Day 5
My husband and I were on our way! Our first stop the Grand Canyon! This was the day we were most excited about the whole trip and it was all worth it! The north rim wasn't going to be open until the following week, so we checked out the southern rim. A great piece of advice is that the southern rim is free to see and there is a fee for the northern rim. There's a $25 per car fee to enter the national park.
No matter where you walked the views were equally breathtaking.
Next time we go we definitely have to check out the northern rim.
We were there for two hours and that wasn't enough. We only saw three points, but we needed to hit the road to make it to LA by the end of the day.
We made a stop to use the bathroom and this sign only made me want to get in the car quicker.
We hit Rancho Cucamonga the traffic started to become intense. Needless to say, we were approaching our destination! Thankfully our friend was gracious enough to take us in for the night. We went to Norm's for dinner, which we really enjoyed, and he gave us a quick tour of the Hollywood area.
The First Week
That Saturday morning we put the apartment hunt in overdrive. It was the most difficult part of the journey! There were MANY apartments available, but it seemed like no one wanted to fill them. Only four of maybe twenty building managers actually gave us a call back!
We used AirBnB to stay in at an awesome private room in the hills right outside of LA. It was $60 a night... A NIGHT! It was a fraction of the cost of a hotel, so it was extremely helpful to stay on budget. It took us four days to secure an apartment. It seems like a short amount of time, but when you don't have your own place it seems eternal! We prayed and left it up to God so many times. We made it all the way across the country without any car issues or accidents, which was a blessing in its self.
Unfortunately, I am still job hunting but hopefully for not too long. Thank you to all of our family and friends! You guys mean the world to us and even though it was hard to say good-bye.... your support showed how much you love us!
Remember to never stop dreaming! Sometimes it may come true ;)
